How We Review
The process behind every score, verdict and recommendation on HeelCups.
Research first
Every review starts with the product itself: its materials, construction, sizing, and the claims the maker puts on the box and the website. We compare those claims against what the product can plausibly do — an insole can support an arch; it cannot cure a condition — and against the published guidance from podiatry and sports-medicine bodies on what helps the problem it targets. Then we read large volumes of verified owner feedback to learn how it holds up in real shoes over real months.
Hands-on where we can, honest where we can't
Where we've used a product ourselves we say so in the review. Where we haven't, we say that too, and the verdict rests on construction analysis, spec-level comparison against alternatives and aggregated owner experience. We never describe a test we didn't run.
How scoring works
The verdict score (out of 10) weighs five things: does it do the job it's bought for, build quality and durability, value against alternatives, ease of use and fit, and how satisfied long-term owners are. The star rating beside it is the Heelcups.com Team's editorial rating on a five-point scale. We never fabricate figures — if we can't back a number, we don't show one, and our structured data only ever repeats what's visible on the page.
Language rules for a health topic
We write about relief, comfort and support. We don't write that a product cures, treats, heals or fixes plantar fasciitis, heel spurs or any other condition, even when the brand does. Where a brand's claim outruns the evidence — magnets, detox, “doctor recommended” without a name — we flag it in the review rather than repeat it.
What money never buys
Brands can't pay for a review, a score or a ranking. Our only revenue is the affiliate commission a retailer pays after you choose to buy, which never changes the price you pay (see our disclosure). Positive and negative points appear in every review, and if a product isn't worth buying we say so.
Updates and corrections
Products change, prices move and better evidence emerges. We refresh reviews over time and each page carries its publish and last-updated dates. If you spot something wrong, tell usand we'll verify and fix it.
